Every proposal is built around the right spot and the best light of the day. Pick the setting that feels like the two of you — I plan the timing, the hiding spot and a rain plan B around it.

Santi was fantastic! Very professional and help me through the entire process. It is stressful trying to find a photographer from overseas and proposing at location you never seen before. But Santi provided all the pictures. Picked a fantastic spot, and helped with providing guidance for what colour clothing is best suited for the pictures. Where to stand as well. We hired him for a surprise proposal shoot across Nice and Monaco, and I cannot recommend him highly enough! Planning a surprise proposal can be nerve-wracking, but he was incredibly helpful from start to finish and easily adapted to all our needs on the day. He was extremely professional and even arrived before our scheduled time to make sure everything was perfectly set up. To top it all off, he sent us our beautifully edited photos just a day or two after the shoot, which is incredibly fast! He was an absolute pleasure to work with and well worth the money. If you are looking for a photographer in the French Riviera, book him!

On a eu une superbe expérience avec Santi pour nos fiançailles! Je l’ai trouvé seulement 3-4 semaines avant ma demande, et dès le début, il a été incroyable. On s’est écrit des dizaines de fois pour trouver l’endroit parfait pour ma demande, et c’est vraiment grâce à lui qu’on a trouvé le lieu idéal.
Je pensais au départ qu’il allait simplement prendre quelques photos du moment de la demande, mais il a vraiment dépassé mes attentes. Il a pris des centaines de magnifiques photos de nous autour du lieu, en plus de capturer plusieurs vidéos.

Villefranche is small, so a few minutes' walk changes everything: from a busy quay to a silent vaulted lane. Here's how I use that.
Plage des Marinières is about 700 m of mixed sand and pebbles, with toilets, showers and lifeguards in season. With that much shoreline, there's room to find your own stretch. You arrive by train, step down to the water, and I'm already in place further along the shore. It's the simplest surprise to stage on this coast, and the walk is flat.
Rue Obscure is a 130 m vaulted lane that once served as a covered sentry walk. It has been a listed monument since 1932. It's free, shaded and atmospheric, and it becomes my rain plan without anyone noticing it was a plan B. The old town climbs in lanes and stone stairways, so comfortable shoes are a good idea.
Built in 1557 for the Duke of Savoy, the citadel now houses the town hall, museums and free gardens with views over the bay. There are public toilets too, which is useful when nerves kick in. The walls and ramparts give framed views of the water, and the space is usually calmer than the quay below.
Fishing boats, pastel façades and one of the deepest natural harbours in the Mediterranean make the waterfront the classic choice. On the quay, Jean Cocteau decorated the fishermen's Chapelle Saint-Pierre in 1956–57. After the yes, a waterfront café terrace a few steps away is the easiest celebration. A taxi rank on Place Amélie Pollonnais makes the return trip simple.
